Russian troops advance west of Artiomovsk, in Donetsk

Moscow, Apr 22 (Prensa Latina) Russian assault units liberated three blocks in the western part of the city of Artiomovsk in the last 24 hours, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov reported today.

The military spokesman highlighted this Saturday in his usual press conference that the airborne troops in Artiomovsk corner the enemy units on the flanks and support the assault units.

Konashenkov also reported that up to 225 Ukrainian soldiers and mercenaries died in the area of the Donetsk People’s Republic during the last day.

Likewise, the military spokesman added that enemy troops lost an infantry fighting vehicle, six armored vehicles, 10 cars, a Grad multiple missile launcher, as well as two D-20 howitzers.

Konashenkov added that Russian units destroyed an ammunition depot of the 67th Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near the town of Staritsa in the Kharkov region.

During the day, the enemy’s losses in this area amounted to up to 60 soldiers, two armored combat vehicles, a pickup truck, as well as a US-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-battery radar, the spokesperson reported.

On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that his country would conduct a special military operation in Ukraine in response to requests for help from the leaders of the self-proclaimed Donbass republics.
