Cuban President highlights Lenin’s legacy

Havana, Apr 22 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President, Miguel Díaz-Canel, stated today that Lenin, theoretical and practical leader of the left in the 20th century, continues to be indispensable in this century for his contributions to Marxism and unsurpassed characterization of imperialism.

The Cuban president’s tweet celebrates this Saturday the 153rd anniversary of the birth of the leader of the October Revolution, Vladimir Ilich Ulyanov.

Popularly known as Lenin, he was born in the Russian town of Simbirsk on April 22, 1870. He was the organizer and leader of the Great October Socialist Revolution, fact that marked a radical change in the history of humanity.

Likewise, he was the founder of the Bolshevik party, the main promoter and inspirer of the Communist International and the supreme leader of the Soviet government until his death in the town of Gorki, near Moscow, on January 21, 1924.

Lenin’s socialist ideas continue to be a reference for social transformations and processes of change in the peoples of Asia, Africa and Latin America, as well as in those countries that made up the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
