The event, known as “Habana Vieja: Ciudad en Movimiento” (Old Havana: City in Motion), will bring together nearly 100 artists from different national and foreign companies to emblematic places of the city, such as Plaza de Armas (Armas Square) and Las Carolinas, until April 23.
The Retazos dance theater company, directed by Isabel Bustos, organized the event. It will bring the public closer to several art exhibitions and promote dance in Havana’s public spaces.
The three-day event will occupy streets and other locations, such as: the Habana Espacios Creativos multidisciplinary experimental laboratory, the Cuban Art Factory, the Development Center of Visual Arts, and the National Museum of Fine Arts.
Concerts, workshops, master classes, keynote speeches, staging, exhibitions, video screenings, and a meeting of ideas among specialists in the aforementioned fields, will be held in the context of this event.
The 17th Video-Dance Festival, DV Danza Habana, and Movimiento y Ciudad, will also take place and will include, among its proposals, a selection of works from the Choreoscope Barcelona Dance Film Festival and the special participation of Mexican filmmaker Ana Baer.
Activities will be live-streamed on different platforms, a practice used during the Covid-19 pandemic and which the organizers wish to maintain.
