Balseiro, who presides over this session until the election of the highest positions of the legislative body and the country, explained that this session is taking place under the protection of the Constitution of the Republic and the Electoral Law and with the participation of 468 deputies elected in the national elections.
The electoral authority described the composition of this new Legislature, in which workers from the people’s power and government sectors, education, food, agriculture, sugar, cooperative and peasants stand out, followed by healthcare experts, political leaders and representatives of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, the Ministry of the Interior and the mass organizations.
Likewise, she recalled that 221 of 470 elected parliamentarians are grassroots delegates and 303 have this responsibility for the first time.
The average age of the lawmakers in this new Legislature is 46 years, which represents a renewal within its ranks.
