Vietnam’s Vuong Dinh Hue leaves for Cuba and South America

Hanoi, Apr 18 (Prensa Latina) Vietnam's National Assembly (Parliament) Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue left this capital for Havana on Tuesday to begin a ten-day tour from Cuba to Argentina and Uruguay.

Dinh Hue heads a high-level delegation in response to invitations addressed by his Cuban counterpart Esteban Lazo, Argentina’s Chamber of Deputies President Cecilia Moreau, and Uruguayan Senate Speaker Beatriz Argimon.

The visit of Dinh Hue and his delegates to Cuba is an approach to broaden and deepen bilateral cooperation in several fields, as Vietnamese Ambassador to Havana, Le Thanh Tung, said in exclusive statements to Prensa Latina.

It “constitutes an expression of the relations between Vietnam and Cuba bequeathed to us by the top leaders of both nations: Fidel Castro and Ho Chi Minh,” Thanh Tung pointed out.

Meanwhile, Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam, Orlando Hernandez, said Dinh Hue’s visit has an important historical significance in strengthening bilateral relations.

Taking advantage of the occasion, Vu Hai Ha, Chairman of the National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Committee, stressed that the visit comes after Cuba successfully held general elections to integrate the 10th National Assembly, define the new leadership of that body, and elect the State Council’s members.

Din Hue’s visit to Cuba comes at a time when the two nations are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Cuban Committee for Solidarity with South Vietnam and the 50th anniversary of the first visit of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, to Vietnam and the liberated zone in South Vietnam.
