The deputy sent a letter on the occasion of the Nicaragua-Cuba Friendship Day, pointing out that the ties of brotherhood, cooperation, and mutual and unconditional support between the two countries are reflected in the pages of the history of both nations.

The correspondence highlighted that “brotherhood and solidarity and the relentless struggle in defense of the self-determination of our peoples” have been reinforced over the years.

The message also referred to the blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba, and assured that the US will not be able to defeat “the brave and seasoned Cuban people.”

In May 2019, the parliament issued the law that establishes April 17 as Friendship Day between Cuba and Nicaragua, in homage to the pilot Carlos Ulloa, who fell in defense of the Cuban Revolution in Playa Girón on April 17, 1961, when Cuba was invaded by mercenaries under the service of the United States Government.
