Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce and Industry Denis Manturov traveled to New Delhi at the head of a delegation that will stay in India for two days.
On Monday, Manturov participated in a meeting of businessmen, to whom he assured Moscow’s desire to deepen ties with India and revealed that Russia, together with the Eurasian Economic Commission, hopes to intensify negotiations on a free trade agreement.
Manturov confirmed plans to import manufacturing equipment and products related to the Indian chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
Corresponding with the aforementioned, Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar described the business meeting as a productive discussion based on opportunities and challenges in economic cooperation.
He also ratified the interest in the discussions that will take place during the intergovernmental meeting this Tuesday, which, according to the agency “Press Trust of India”, will address the possibility of extending bilateral relations in trade, culture, science and technology.
