“In the first phase of the exercise, the military command authorities of the Baltic Naval Base, several naval formations and some naval units participating in the exercise have been placed on high alert,” the Russian Baltic Fleet said.

He also pointed out that the crews of small missile boats, anti-submarine ships, base ships and minesweepers will work on various tasks, including the establishment of anti-mine countermeasures for the deployment of forces and anti-submarine defense for ships.

During the exercise, naval groups from the Baltic Naval Base will conduct missile and artillery firing practice to defeat simulated enemy ships and aircraft.

They will also test the defense of the ships and submarines of the fleet and the base point against probable actions by sabotage and reconnaissance units, while the Bal and Bastion coastal missile systems will destroy naval targets on the coast.

Crews from about 10 surface ships, launches and support vessels, more than 50 units of military and special equipment, as well as planes and helicopters from the Baltic Fleet are taking part in the exercise.
