In Venezuela Athletes from Nicaragua,Cuba and Domiica for ALBA Games

Caracas, Apr 17 (Prensa Latina) The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-Peoples' Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) announced today the arrival here of the Nicaraguan delegation that will participate in the 5th Sports Games of the bloc of integration.

The Latin American and Caribbean mechanism indicated through Twitter that 210 athletes from the Central American country had arrived at the Maiquetía international airport, in the state of La Guaira. He pointed out that another 238 are expected to arrive in the coming days, to form a team of 448 athletes who will compete for the medals in 29 disciplines.

In addition to the Nicaraguan delegation, part of the Cuban delegation arrived in Venezuela, made up of the baseball and boxing teams, as well as softball, fencing, cycling and judo, together with medical support, executives and sports reporters.

The island’s delegation to these 5th ALBA Games will be made up of 265 athletes, mostly young, and will participate in 24 disciplines of the 33 scheduled for the event, which will take place from April 21 to 29 in the states of La Guaira, Miranda and the Capital District (Caracas).

On Monday, athletes and executives from Dominica also arrived here, with some 120 competitors to participate in sports such as football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, cycling and chess. On Sunday, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines became the first delegations to touch Venezuelan soil, out of the 11 countries that will participate in the event, to which Russia will attend as a guest nation.

The 5th ALBA Sports Games will gather some three thousand participants, including athletes, coaches, referees and officials, and will have 29 facilities for competing and another five for training, according to organizers.

The competition will cover 33 disciplines, and 1,297 medals will be distributed, including 387 gold, 387 silver and 523 bronze.
