The president greeted the birthday of the expert – celebrated yesterday – most remembered by Cubans for her appearances on television with the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, during the demand for the return of the child Elian González, retained (1999-2000) by relatives in the United States.
Díaz-Canel thanked the academician, who holds the rank of Professor of the Faculty of Psycology at the University of Havana, for her valuable contributions. She is a former President of the Cuban Society of Psychology. Dr. Ares did her doctorate in Psychology in a study of the Cuban Families and has taught several master’s degree courses abroad on the subject of family intervention.
She has also done consulting work in the plans and programs of Psychology careers at the University of Guayaquil, Ecuador.
