energia-eloica
Hanoi, Apr 12 (Prensa Latina) Vietnam will host the largest event of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on "land and offshore wind energy" (AWE 2023) next October, with the presence of over eight thousand participants confirmed.

The Adora Center in Ho Chi Minh City will host the event, considered a unique platform to bring together the main wind farm operators, turbine and component manufacturers, grid operators, investors, and technology solution providers, among others.

As stated on the forum and expo website, AWE 2023 aims to lay the foundation for development, investment and partnership among all industry peers, as well as to anticipate and manage needed changes in the huge wind power market in the region.

According to the site, the wind energy market in ASEAN has experienced significant growth since 2017, with countries such as Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines at the forefront.

The International Renewable Energy Agency´s Statistics indicate that Southeast Asia had a cumulative installed wind capacity of 8.5 GW at the end of 2020 and the projected capacity is 35 GW by 2030, if current policies and targets are achieved.

However, despite the progress experienced, challenges persist such as the lack of support policies and regulatory frameworks, and other financial natures for wind energy projects, the institution stressed.

It is reportedly said that Vietnam is and will continue to be, by far, the largest wind market in the region, with a generation capacity of 13.9 GW planned for 2025.
