A brigade from the Specialized Construction and Assembly Company is working at the plant in the city of Matanzas, prioritizing the extraction of soot still remaining inside the chimney and the cleaning of the area around.
The director of the Thermoelectric Power Plant, Misbel Palmero, explained to the Cuban News Agency that although the work schedule to solve the damage to the structure is still being studied, there are personnel and material resources to carry out the task.
He specified that the recovery work should not exceed the period allocated for the maintenance of the block, scheduled until May.
He explained that the construction works will consist in the lifting of the demolished side walls to ease the extraction out of the room buried by the rubble, and studying the feasibility of building a new partition inside the chimney.
On April 7th, a wall collapsed inside the chimney of the facility, when four workers were carrying out maintenance work.
