During the annual balance of the sector, the Prime Minister reminded that 2022 was an extremely complex year for the ministry and pointed out that the National Electric System still requires investments to achieve greater stability, the Cubadebate website reported.
“Even with the difficult financial situation, we must sustain the maintenance and the plans drawn up,” he stressed.
The Minister of the sector, Vicente de la O Levy, specified that it is necessary to resume the systematic and demanding works, and added that internal potentialities must be better exploited to face the unfavorable conditions marked by the United States blockade.
He stressed the importance of increasing exports of products such as nickel and ensuring the base generation of more thermoelectric plants, as well as committing to the implementation of renewable energies.
The general director of the Electric Company, Alfredo López, reported that a recovery program has already been carried out for December and another for the summer months, with a view to improving energy availability.
He announced that a Floating Mobile Generation Plant is currently sailing to the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba, to replace another one that ended its contract with Cuba.

Reconoció primer ministro de Cuba a trabajadores de energía y minas
La Habana, 11 abr (Prensa Latina) El primer ministro de Cuba, Manuel Marrero, reconoció la labor y el compromiso de los trabajadores del Ministerio de Energía y Minas, en medio de la difícil situación que atraviesa el país.
Durante el balance anual del sector, el jefe de Gobierno recordó que el 2022 fue un año extremadamente complejo para ese ministerio y señaló que el Sistema Eléctrico Nacional todavía requiere inversiones para lograr una estabilidad mayor, informó el sitio web Cubadebate.
‘Aun con la difícil situación financiera debemos sostener los mantenimientos y los planes trazados’, subrayó.
El Ministro de la Ministerio, Vicente de la O Levy precisó que es necesario retomar la sistematicidad y la exigencia en el trabajo, además se deben explotar mejor las potencialidades internas para hacer frente a las condiciones desfavorables marcadas por el bloqueo de Estados Unidos.
Subrayó la importancia de aumentar las exportaciones de productos como el níquel y asegurar la generación base de más termoeléctricas, así como apostar por la implementación de energías renovables.
En tanto, el director general de la Unión Eléctrica, Alfredo López, informó que ya se realizó un programa de recuperación para diciembre y otro para los meses de verano, con vistas a mejorar la disponibilidad energética.
Anunció que en estos momentos navega hacia la oriental provincia de Santiago de Cuba una Central Flotante de Generación Móvil, para sustituir a otra que finalizó su contrato con Cuba.
