Under the name “Protecting ourselves in Family and Community”, the government initiative will be launched officially at 3:00 p.m. local time, in the central park of the city of Masaya, south of the capital.
Nicaraguan Vice President Rosario Murillo explained to the local press, on Monday, that citizens will be immunized against diphtheria, tetanus, measles, mumps, rubella, poliomyelitis, Covid-19, tuberculosis, pneumococcus, influenza and whooping cough as part of the vaccination program, scheduled until the end of this month.
Vitamins and antiparasitics will also be administered to the population.
Mass vaccination campaigns have been common in Nicaragua since the return to power in 2007 of the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN).
The benefits of the health model of social inclusion developed by the FSLN increased the life expectancy of Nicaraguans from 73 to 76 years of age, 79 in the case of women.
