Upon receiving the Cuban Ambassador, Jorge León, the president of FENASOL, Castro Abdallah, confirmed the solidarity and support for the Cuban people in their struggle against the economic, commercial and financial blockade.
The Lebanese union leader gave an update on the federation’s work to represent all workers, in light of Lebanon’s economic and financial collapse.
Abdallah reiterated his gratitude to Cuba for its permanent positions and support for the democratic and independent labor and trade union movement in Lebanon.
In turn, León thanked the traditional support of FENASOL to the Cuban people in its fight against the blockade imposed by US imperialism for over six decades.
According to a diplomatic note sent to Prensa Latina, both parties reviewed the existing links between Cuba’s Worker’s Union and FENASOL and the perspectives of carrying out future exchanges of experiences in addition to coordinating positions in international events.
After years of struggle and transformation, the organization that emerged in the early 1940s has brought together more than 20 unions and 40 foundations, or worker committees, in defense of the independence and labor rights of the Lebanese.
