Abortion, Suicide and Infanticide in Spanish America is the title of one of these volumes, whose authors are academicians Ismael Sarmiento and Maria Gonzalez, with the introductory words of Yunier Riquenes, leader of the literary platform Claustrofobias.
Olga Portuondo, winner of the National Award for Social Sciences and a City Historian also presented Trata y esclavitud: las mentiras de los imperios (1840-1845), which will be presented by Maria Cristina Hierrezuelo.
Another approach to primordial times will be the text “Los Cabildos de negros: presencia y resiliencia en el Carnaval de Santiago de Cuba,” by Irene Cruz, with details to be offered by Zoe Creme, director of the Fernando Ortiz African Cultural Center, sponsor of the event.
The program of the event will last until April 16 in four cultural institutions in Santiago and will include a panel on the 60th anniversary of the first Cuban medical mission in that continent and experiences of health professionals in the provinces of southern Angola.
