Addressing the “B20” Business Forum, the diplomat expressed interest in strengthening those ties, especially with the state of Nagaland, where the event is taking place.
Speaking before Minister of State for External Affairs Rajkumar Ranjan Singh and Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who presided over the meeting, Simancas highlighted the ties between the two countries, which he described as historic and friendly.
The Cuban representative also thanked the authorities and people of that territory for their hospitality.
During his participation in the business forum, the diplomat met with officials, entrepreneurs, and representatives of local organizations.
Relations between India and Cuba, which have been excellent, date from 1959, when the former was one of the first nations to recognize the emerging Cuban Revolution.
Subsequently, historic leaders Fidel Castro and Ernesto Che Guevara deepened the historic and special friendship with Indian authorities and people.
India continues to support Cuba’s demands to have the illegal and criminal blockade by the United States lifted.
