Cuban Ambassador to Ottawa, Héctor Igarza, spoke about it during the courtesy visit he made to Ontario Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell and Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of that province Ted Arnott.
During the meeting with Dowdeswell, both parties underlined that will. The Cuban diplomat also updated the lieutenant governor on the negative effects of the US blockade against his country for more than six decades.
During the exchange with Arnott, Ambassador Igarza highlighted the outstanding presence of women in the National People’s Power Assembly (Parliament), explained the electoral process in Cuba, and reiterated the negative impact of the unilateral siege imposed by the White House on the Cuban people.
After the meeting, Igarza toured the Legislative Building and attended an open session of the Ontario Parliament.
Cuba’s Consul General in Toronto, Jorge Yanier Castellanos, and Consul Tania Valenzuela also participated in the visits.
