Arabs protest against Israeli attack on Al-Aqsa Mosque

Tel Aviv, Apr 7 (Prensa Latina) More than 20 Arabs were detained in Israel on Friday during protests in the different cities of the country against the police attack on the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem.

National media reported clashes and riots in several areas, especially in mixed or Arab-majority cities, on Thursday evening and early Friday.

According to official figures, this community totals 1.9 million people, nearly 21 percent of the total population of this Levantine nation.

According to a police press release, the leading marches and clashes were held in Nazareth, Sakhnin, Baqa al Gharbiya, and Kafr Manda cities, as well as in the occupied East Jerusalem.

Due to Passover, Israeli security forces attempted to evict Tuesday evening the Palestinians present in the area to allow the Israelis to enter, leading to a new escalation of violence.

Israel occupied the eastern part of the metropolis in the 1967 war and has kept the area under its control since ever, despite UN Security Council resolutions.
