The president of the International Relations and Regional Integration Commission of the National Congress, Xiomara Zelaya, reported on Wednesday that the visitors were received by presidential adviser Manuel Zelaya and the Honduran Foreign Minister, Enrique Reina.
Zelaya tweeted stating that the Chinese delegation is also organizing an official visit to Beijing for President Xiomara Castro. Last week, the Chinese government invited Castro to visit China after establishing diplomatic ties.
These relations were established at an ambassadorial level after Honduras broke its ties with Taiwan and recognized the “one China” principle.
In Honduras, they saw the news as an opening to new opportunities, since the projects being developed by China in medium and long terms could have a great impact and change for Honduras.
According to Foreign Minister Enrique Reina, Honduras has to seek the benefit for its people, and as such, is strengthening spheres like trade, investment and greater cooperation in other areas inluding culture.
