German Minister calls to avoid being part of Ukrainian conflict

Berlin, Apr 5 (Prensa Latina) German Vice-Chancellor and Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Robert Habeck, reiterated on Wednesday that his country must avoid becoming a party of the conflict in Ukraine.

The possible presence of German troops in Ukraine is a red line that the country must not cross, Habek said, quoted by Deutschlandfunk radio station.

We should not become a party to this war, and it is important to always keep our distance.

When answering a question as to where he would draw a red line, the senior official said: the presence of German troops in Ukraine.

On Monday, Habeck, along with a small business delegation, arrived on an unannounced visit to Kiev.

The agenda of the trip was Ukraine’s reconstruction problems and cooperation in the energy sector.

Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz has repeatedly pointed out that Germany and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in general, would not be a party to the conflict in Ukraine, but the West would continue to support that nation as long as necessary.
