Cuban President congratulates Central Army on anniversary

Havana, Apr 4 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel today congratulated the Central Army on the 62nd anniversary of its creation, during the fight against bandits and a few days after the mercenary invasion of Playa Giron.

My congratulations to the chiefs, officers and warriors of that admirable army of which I was part. #We are Cuba, the president said on his Twitter profile.

This Monday, the anniversary was celebrated with a political-military event in the military region of Ciego de Avila.

The activity was presided over by deputy minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR) Army Corps General Joaquín Quintas Solá, accompanied by government leaders, senior chiefs of the FAR and the Presidents of the defense councils of the five provinces of the Central Territory.

As part of the tribute, the headquarters and political section of the Central Army recognized the defense councils of the territories, belonging to that command, for their results in preparing the people for defense.

It also extended special congratulations to Ciego de Avila and Matanzas for the high participation of the people in the national elections held on March 26.
