Prigozhin reported on Telegram that Wagner assault troops hoisted their flag on the Artyomovsk administration building on Sunday, April 2nd, at 23:00 local time.
“This Russian flag is for Vladen Tatarski”, Prigozhin said, in reference to a reporter who was killed in a terrorist bombing in Saint Petersburg on Sunday,. The flag itself has a writing that says “good memory”.
“From a legal point of view we have taken Artyomovsk,” Prigozhin asserted, although he acknowledged that Ukrainian forces remain in the western quarters of the city.
He also stated that the commanders of the Russian units that took control over the Administration of this city of the Donetsk People’s Republic and the entire central neighborhood, “will bring and place flags.”
Artyomovsk is located 55 kilometers northeast of the city of Donetsk and is an important logistics hub, which supplies the Ukrainian troops in Donbass. The Russian and Ukrainian troops have been fighting fiercely for the city.
