The request gathers knowledge and know-how accumulated over centuries, which have been handed down from generation to generation to be a part of the identity of communities with a tradition in the preparation and consumption of cassava based on manioc, a millenary crop.
According to the minister, the initiative shared by Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Haiti, and Honduras represents a step forward in cultural diversity and the recognition of the identity in Latin America and the Caribbean around several traditions.
