As the Minister stated to the TVBRICS channel on Wednesday, this instrument will allow the States of the group (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) to exchange data on mineral reserves and technologies for their extraction.
Kozlov, who met in Moscow with the executive director of the South African Geosciences Council, Mosa Mabuza, stressed that the main theme of the meeting was the creation of this platform, since the demand for natural resources is growing by leaps and bounds.
The first step towards the creation of the platform will be meetings of experts and heads of national geological surveys of the BRICS countries, after which a memorandum will be adopted, Kozlov noted.
He added that the geological platform will be discussed at a meeting of the Russian-South African intergovernmental commission, scheduled for Thursday.
