Official representative Hiroyuki Kato made the remarks in response to press reports about the alleged defection of the Cuban athlete.
We have been in contact with the Cuban Baseball Federation (FCB) and other organizations, but we have no precise information,” Kato told reporters at Nagoya Dome.
He stressed that the Federation has failed to contact Rodriguez by telephone for a week. He is believed to be in the Dominican Republic.
The Cuban pitcher’s contract with the Japanese club, managed by FCB, will expire next year.
The Cuban institution informed that it will demand rights and responsibilities for the breach of the agreement between the Dragons, the athlete, and the FCB that acts as a representative for the 2023-2024 period.
The FCB described the player’s breach of contract as a “serious fault” for which it might demand ten million dollars in damages by virtue of the legal agreement.
