International fairs in Panama focused on greater integration

Panama City, Mar 28 (Prensa Latina) The International Trade, Logistics and Tourism Fairs in Panama opened today focused on greater integration of nations to promote economic development and social well-being.

At the opening ceremony at the Amador Convention Center, in this capital, the President of the Republic Laurentino Cortizo pointed out that the so-called World Trade Showcase once again turns the isthmus into a meeting point that shows its growth progress achieved in a together with the productive sectors.

In her turn, the Vice President of the Dominican Republic, Raquel Peña, speaker on duty at the ceremony, emphasized that in this new edition of the businessmen’s meeting, with the participation of 600 companies from almost 30 nations, the host nation has surpassed itself.

After a tour of the results of public management and the promotion of tourism in his country, Peña estimated that the result of these changes has been a catalog of innovation and adaptation to the new times of international trade, markets and the taste of the consumers.

Regarding these fairs, he asserted that they have become a privileged setting for the presentation of new products and services, and since their creation almost four decades ago, they have been an important way to expand commercial exchange in the region and have generated great contributions to the economy of Panama and that of the participating countries.

In another part of his speech, Peña drew attention to the situation of chaos and violence and the terror imposed by criminal gangs in Haiti and urged the international community to contribute to peace and an urgent solution in that country, which currently represents a de facto destabilization in the region.

On the agenda, the president of the Commission for Exhibitions and Events of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Panama, Jean-Pierre Leignadier, pointed out that these three fairs present advances in areas such as food, textiles, agricultural products, equipment and medical supplies, beverages and technologies. Countries on five continents have confirmed.

In the 39th edition of Expocomer, he said, China resumes its participation with the largest pavilion, followed by Türkiye, El Salvador, Guatemala, Colombia, the United States, Costa Rica, Argentina and Ecuador, among other countries.

In addition, he highlighted the presence of missions from Argentina, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, South Korea, Cuba, Spain, France, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela.

The Organizing Commission expects to receive between 12,000 and 15,000 national and international visitors who will seek to strengthen their businesses and promote contacts and commercial exchange.

The Expocomer, ExpoLogística and ExpoTurismo, held in March 2022, registered commercial transactions for some 127.7 million dollars, an indicator that they hope to exceed in this edition.

On this occasion, parallel events also stand out, such as the delivery of the National Award for Business Innovation 2022, the International Congress of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, a workshop on health and the Specialized Congress “Impact of Technology on Logistics Operations”.
