An ALBA-TCP dispatch pointed out that the election of the deputies of the Cuban Parliament is a clear message to the international community of the maturity and continuity of the Cuban Revolution and its principles.
The Alliance expressed to President Miguel Díaz-Canel “its support and solidarity with the Cuban Revolution”, and wished the Cuban Parliament the greatest success in this new legislative period.
Millions of Cubans throughout the country went last Sunday to the voting centers to elect 470 deputies to the National Assembly of People’s Power.
The president of the National Electoral Council, Alina Balseiro, highlighted the fact that the elections took place in a favorable environment, with order and discipline. She also explained that of the total ballots, 90.28 percent were valid, 6.22 were blank, and 3.50 were declared invalid.
Díaz-Canel tweeted stressing that the spirit of unity was decisive in the victory in Sunday’s elections.
He also wrote that the new National Assembly of People’s Power faces the enormous challenges of the nation to overcome the current economic and social situation, legislating in permanent contact with their constituents.
