Scientists from the University of East Anglia, United Kingdom, warned that people aged 40 and older, obese persons, smokers, and women are more likely to suffer the disease for a long time.
Individuals with asthma, type 2 diabetes mellitus, depression, anxiety, and coronary heart disease are other groups at risk, the experts stated, cited by JAMA Internal Medicine journal.
The study showed that vaccinated individuals had a significantly lower risk of developing Covid-19 compared to unvaccinated people.
The research will allow a better strategy to optimize all modifiable risk factors by encouraging vaccination and promoting public health messages about smoking and being overweight.
