The company, directed by Viengsay Valdés, will resume performances at Teatro Nacional de Cuba’s Avellaneda Hall in April, with a program that combines Act II of “El Lago de Los Cisnes” (Swan Lake) and the successful work “La forma del rojo” (The Shape of Red), a choreography by Ely Regina Hernández and music by Ezio Bosso.
The program reportedly covers the piece “Celeste” by Belgian-Colombian Annabelle López Ochoa and music composed by Pyotr Ilich Tchaikovsky.
“Tres Preludios” (Three Preludes), one of the most famous works by British choreographer Ben Stevenson, with music of Sergei Rachmaninov, are also on the list, the text stated.
The company, declared Cultural Heritage of the Nation, has also reserved an approach to Act II of “Swan Lake,” in a choreographic version by prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso based on the original by Lev Ivanov.
The performances will take place on April’s first two weekends. The function on Sunday, April 9, will pay tribute to Cuban scientist Antonio Núñez Jiménez on his 100th birthday.
First dancers Valdés, Anette Delgado, Sadaise Arencibia, Grettel Morejón, Dani Hernández, and Yankiel Vázquez will perform these pieces, according to the report.
