The agreement was reached during a recent video conference between the Healthcare Department of the southern Vietnamese city and the Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), Cuban Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Ariadne Feo Labrada told Prensa Latina.
Labrada said that the two MINSAP experts would come first and a group of professionals from Ho Chi Minh City would travel to Cuba later to learn about Cuba’s experience in both, primary health care and other related issues.
The delegation from the Healthcare Department will work in the communities with the family doctors and polyclinics, and will exchange experiences with specialists in kidney transplants, obstetrics, and oncology, among others, she said.
According to the Cuban diplomat, there is also a clear interest from Vietnam to learn about the technological development of Cuba’s biopharmaceutical industry and the production of vaccines.
The collaboration between professionals from Ho Chi Minh City and Cuba responds to an agreement by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz during his talks with the leaders of this southern city when he visited Vietnam last year, she said.
