After casting his vote in the municipality of Cienfuegos, where he is also a candidate for the National People’s Power Assembly (Parliament), Morales noted that the elections are taking place in a complex economic situation but they are also a step toward overcoming all obstacles that the country is facing.
The top official referred to the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the Government of the United States for more than six decades and which has been tightened recently, especially during the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
Morales also denounced Cuba’s inclusion in the unilateral US list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism, a measure that hampers Cuba’s access to international credits.
The PCC leader added that during the 28th Ibero-American Summit in Santo Domingo, the Dominican Republic, on Saturday, participants denounced Washington’s genocidal policy against Cuba.
