They represent 18.15 percent of 8,120,120,72 registered voters, National Electoral Council (CEN) Vice President Tomas Amaran said on local television.
Amaran stated that this percentage is acceptable, taking into account the time and characteristics of each district, as eastern voters go to the polls earlier, while those in the capital, Havana, do so during the day.
The CEN official insisted that all voters know that they can vote in their place of residence or more than 200 special polling stations nationwide, where they have to present their identity card.
The National Electoral Council noted that so far, the elections are running smoothly and orderly, without incidents.
