Guilarte, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), voted at 7:30 hours, local time, at a polling station with more than 700 voters in the Havana municipality of Playa.

In statements to reporters, the CTC top leader highlighted the plural, inclusive and democratic nature of Cuba’s political system, which places citizens at the center of legislative management.

Guilarte expressed his conviction that the Parliament, to be set up on April 19, will have the support of the Cuban people, who are facing enormous economic and social challenges. He explained that the participation of trade unions in the debates before laws are approved in the National People’s Power Assembly is significant.
