According to ADL´s new report, in 2022 it tabulated as many as 3,697 antisemitic incidents across the country. In 2021, there were 2,717 incidents. The incidents that were tracked included harassment, vandalism and assault.

The surge in antisemitic cases comes as the FBI and human rights groups warn about rising numbers of hate crimes in the U.S. — and amid concerns that some public officials and social media influencers are fueling the problem by normalizing incendiary rhetoric.

The ADL report was released on the heels of a FBI report earlier this month, indicating that reported hate crimes nationwide increased nearly 12% in 2021 from 2020.

New York is the state with highest number of reported antisemitic incidents with 580, followed by California (518), New Jersey (408), Florida (269) and Texas (211).

According to ADL, these five cities account for 54% of total.

Another alarming report was the high number of bomb threats against Jewish institutions including schools and synagogues, which went up from eight to 91.

While some studies found a series of factors that contributed to the surge, ADL concluded that massive surge in anti-Jewish propaganda was “largely due to the Goyim Defense League,” known as GDL.
