Mikita posted on Telegram that the Transcarpathian region is precisely where most such monuments have been dismantled, and streets, villages, and places have also been renamed.
The dismantling of monuments and renaming of public places connected with Soviet-era history began in Ukraine in 2015, following the enactment of the “decommunization” law.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that year that Ukrainian authorities pursued an aggressive de-Russification and forced assimilation over the years.
