Haiti´s Health Ministry set up accelerated training, updating and coaching sessions for specialized health teams to improve community management and to organize response and prevention activities in Artibonite and Nord departments.
The comprehensive training was aimed at supervising response teams in the regions and consolidating participants’ knowledge of the Health Ministry’s protocols, in addition to equipping specialists with techniques to screen and assess acute diarrhea management centers and cholera outbreak in communities.
Cholera in Haiti was first reported in early October. To date, health authorities have reported 37,599 suspected cases and 2,519 confirmed cases, while 32,360 people required medical assistance.
