Santa Clara, Cuba, Mar 24 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Friday called here to vote next Sunday for the unity of the homeland, the Revolution and socialism.

The head of State, in his capacity as a parliamentary candidate the National People’s Power Assembly from this city, along with seven other candidates, called for mass attendance to the polls on March 26 and to exercise citizens’ rights democratically.

“Let’s go vote together in the name of Fidel and Raul Castro, leaders of the Cuban Revolution, and for the present and future of our country,” said Diaz-Canel, who is also the first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) on the final day of more than 80 meetings and tours by the parliamentary candidates.

At the meeting with residents of the Camacho-Libertad People’s Council, Diaz-Canel stressed that on Sunday, the Cuban people will defend the socialist ideal that has been proposed at the polls, in the search for growing economic and social prosperity.

He appreciated the sincerity with which the people have expressed their concerns.

“They have pointed out to us on which activities we should focus our efforts in the next legislature of the National People’s Power Assembly and many people, gratefully, have shown what they feel for the Revolution based on what the Revolution has meant for them,” he pointed.

Diaz-Canel noted that “it has been an intense exercise in democracy and a process of much learning for all the comrades who have been participating.”

“We have the conviction and decision that in the next legislature, the systematic exchanges by the deputies with the population will be maintained, at which I will always be present,” the Cuban president said.
