DF-Brazil security advisors declare about coup

Brasil-Asesores-Seguridad-Sobre-Golpismo
Brasilia, Mar 23 (Prensa Latina) The Parliamentary Investigation Commission (CPI) of the Legislative Chamber of the Federal District (DF) will hear two advisers from the Ministry of Public Security on the anti-democratic acts that took place on January 8th in Brazil.

Legislative sources confirmed that the former secretary of the office, Júlio Danilo, and Lieutenant-Colonel Jorge Henrique da Silva Pinto, of the DF Military Police, will testify before the CPI.

There was an expectation that Anderson Torres, also a former secretary of the department, would be heard this Thursday, but the former Justice Minister of the government of the then president Jair Bolsonaro pointed out negatively to the testimony, despite the fact that almost all the demands were met by the deputies.

The commission’s rapporteur, Joao Hermeto, submitted a request to summon General Gustavo Henrique Dutra de Menezes, who was in charge of the Army Headquarters in Brasilia, where extremists remained camped for more than two months. The place was indicated to be a refuge for the radical supporters of Bolsonaro who imposed terror in the DF on December 12th, 2022 and on January 8th, 2023.

“At the CPI, every day that passes, we see that the Army is compromised. De Menezes needs to clear up his situation. It is very important to listen to him,” Hermeto said about the request to summon the general.

The parliamentary meeting began the 2nd of March with the allegation of Fernando de Sousa Oliveira, former executive secretary of the DF Public Security Secretariat, who said in his presentation that Torres went on vacation to the United States without leaving “any specific guidance” on the acts.

Torres was arrested upon disembarking in the country on January 14th, for the possible omission of facts.
