EU to disburse another 1.5B Euros in macro-financial aid to Kyiv

Brussels, Mar 21 (Prensa Latina) European Commission (EC) President Ursula von der Leyen on Tuesday announced the European Union (EU) will disburse another €1.5 billion in macro-financial assistance to Kyiv.

Such a figure is the second tranche of macro-financial aid from the package of €18 billion.

On 17 January, the European Union disbursed the first €3 billion of promised macro-financial assistance agreed in December 2022.

According to Von der Leyen, this figure is to be financed by the EU, the United States and international financial institutions.

According to the European Commission, the total financial assistance to Kyiv has already reached €11.7 billion euros since the beginning of the Ukraine conflict. EU´s overall financial aid to Ukraine was close to €67 billion.

Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that the more financial assistances the West disburses to Kyiv in the long term, the more Russia will be forced to continue its threats.

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, on the other hands, stated that attempts to fully supply Ukraine with weaponry are not conducive to negotiations and will have a negative impact on the situation.
