Havana, Mar 20 (Prensa Latina) Cuban peasants are represented as candidates to the National People's Power Assembly (ANPP, Parliament), to be elected on March 26.

Of all 470 parliamentary candidates to the 10th Legislature, 3.6 percent belong to the National Association of Small Farmers (ANAP), a sign of the importance given in Cuba to the participation of all sectors of society in the supreme body of State power.

ANAP grassroots leaders, workers, and presidents of agricultural production, credit, and service cooperatives are among the candidates who will be voted next Sunday.

Among them are seven women who represent thousands of women engaged in food production nationwide, and in terms of territorial distribution, 10 of Cuba’s 15 provinces have candidates from this sector.

Other social segments widely represented are cultural workers, with 6.6 percent of the total candidates. The presence of people linked to health care, education, sports, and media is also significant.

On Sunday, Cuba conducted the dynamic test to verify the preparations of authorities and polling stations for the March 26 elections.

According to National Electoral Council President Alina Balseiro, this practical test showed that except for some details in some areas of the country, Cuba is ready for the elections.
