Royer also recognized non-governmental and social organizations for their contributions to contain the pandemic, while speaking at a meeting of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).

At the meeting, held virtually, regional health authorities updated on new programs, exchanged experiences and made recommendations to carry on and improve actions.

On behalf of the CARICOM Secretariat, Royer thanked the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) for working together with CARICOM member countries.

In this regard, Royer praised collaboration to specifically address emerging health priorities and low immunization rates experienced in vaccination programs.

Despite progress, the Caribbean has major public health challenges that, if not addressed, go against collective goal of achieving sustainable development.

Recommendations will be very useful for implementing innovative strategies based on science and shared experiences.
