For the first time, Cuban ballplayers from here, there and everywhere gather to represent Cuba at the WBC, movement leader Carlos Lazo said in a statement.
“All Cubans of good will rejoice with what has been reached by our ballplayers. They represent all of us,” said Lazo, while stating that on Sunday they will experience a historic event when the Cuban baseball team will defend their Homeland´s flag.
“Everyone will be united, defending our flag. We will all be playing body and soul the best baseball we know: the one which is pure heart on the field and in the spirit of the Cuban people,” Lazo stressed.
The Cuban-American professor claimed that Bridges of Love Movement joins “our brothers in Cuba, the United States and worldwide to support our team.
In this regard, Lazo believed baseball games to be held in Miami, ” will only and exclusively prevail passion for baseball”.
Our voices, along with those of millions of Cubans, will be raised around the globe to support #TeamAsere (as the team was baptized) and to encourage our ballplayers, he stressed.
This is time for national unity and that the Cuban people expect support to players who will defend on the field “the four letters in which Cuba resonates”.
This is time to celebrate and we will through “a party of union of all Cubans. Let nothing separate us now!”
Lazo warned that Bridges of Love rejects attempts by individuals or groups to organize protests before or during the games, as well as “any attempt to politicize or sabotage the event, wherever it comes from.”
“The signs? For #TeamAsere! The flag? The Cuban flag! That’s enough. Let’s unite Cubans, beyond geographies, beliefs, and ideologies! Let nothing separate us now! Let’s go #TeamAsere! Let’s celebrate not because we are going to win, but because we HAVE WON ALREADY!”, he concluded.
