“The use of our language by the British diplomat in his speech is part of a game by London to cover up its Russophobic policy before the international community,” the spokesperson said.
Eckersley pointed out that the British are not Russophobic, as both countries fought in both world wars and have historical relations with each other.
“It’s impossible to listen to something like that. It’s all a theatre, all fake”, Zakharova commented.
According to the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Russia knows the causes and objectives of such actions, “which will not have the effect desired by their initiators.”
In October last year, a group of 11 countries issued a joint statement to the UN Human Rights Council, in which they condemned discrimination against Russians and the Russian-speaking population.
Russia, Belarus, Bolivia, China, Ethiopia, Iran, Myanmar, Nicaragua, North Korea, Syria and Venezuela signed the statement.
