Ricardo Somarriba, executive director at Nicaragua’s Institute for Agricultural Protection and Health (IPSA), told the press about seriousness and global impact of bird flu.
In this regard, IPSA has rolled out a biosecurity plan in Nicaragua, which includes protecting ports, airports, and borders and checking imported products, Somarriba said.
According to the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), bird flu outbreaks have been also reported in nine others Central and South American nations for the first time since 2002.
