The official stated during an interview with the national television that the first satellite was launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, in northwest China, late in February.
The satellites, with their high-resolution cameras, have the strategic goal of boosting Egypt’s sustainable development as part of a plan up to the year 2030, he stressed, and added that the Horus satellites are part of the strategic collaboration between Egypt and China.
Horus 2 will identify the best crops produced and improve the use of Egypt’s natural resources, which will increase exports, he said.
Egypt became the first Arab country to launch a telecommunication satellite into space in 1998.
