Carchi, in the north of the country, will be the first territory where the scheduled event in the electoral calendar will take place today, the CNE informed.
This phase of the process will be extended until the end of April, according to the official schedule published. The CNE specified that, according to the Code of Democracy, the elected authorities will be able to take office on May 14.
Last February 5, 80 percent of Ecuadorians registered in the electoral roll voted for provincial and municipal authorities, the Council of Citizen Participation and Social Control (Cpccs) and answered the eight questions of the constitutional referendum.
The proposal of the Executive to reform the Constitution was rejected by the population and, in turn, progressiveness -particularly the Citizen Revolution movement (RC)- gained space in the main provinces and municipalities of the country, such as Quito and Guayaquil.
