Rodrigo Arias, president of Parliament, claimed his country is facing up an insecurity emergency, for which he intends to find a solution.
Aria announced he would meet next week with high-ranking officials of the Supreme Court of Justice, the Third Chamber, the Judicial Investigation Agency, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Directorate of Intelligence and National Security, and he expects that each will bring bills they consider to be number-one priority.
“We will seek a 5-priority consensus. Once determined, I´m pledged to take it to the Fraction Heads so that we can approve those bills in no more than a month,” he said.
It´s the first approach to identify initiatives once the leading bills are set forth.
Arias considered that coming step would be to meet with President Rodrigo Chaves to roll out some security measures in the country.
Costa Rica is experiencing a wave of violence, reporting over 160 homicides in 2023.
