Students and teachers from the school, located in the Havana municipality of La Lisa, together with the Piñeiro’s children, fellow workers and a representation of youths from the Camilo Cienfuegos military schools remembered the legacy of the revolutionary commander, who was born on March 14, 1933, in Matanzas.
Piñeiro died on March 11, 1998, three days before his 65th birthday, leaving behind a fruitful career in the service of the Revolution.
Floral wreaths, poems, songs and artistic representations were part of the tribute, which was chaired by the deputy director of the International Relations Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Angel Arzuaga, who handed over the card of PCC members to two teachers from the school.
School Principal Aime Magaña was in charge of the keynote speech at the event, which was attended by local authorities from the PCC, the Young Communist League (UJC), the Government and the educational sector.
