After the Cuban team qualified on Sunday to play in Tokyo, Japan, as leader of Pool A of the World Baseball Classic (WBC), Abreu announced on social networks a preview of the chorus of the song: “Ando con Yemayá y con todos los poderes, Ta weno yaaaaaaa, Yo soy Team Asere” (I walk with Yemaya and all the powers, It’s enough, I’m the Buddy Team).
The song takes its name from one of the most popular phrases that identifies Cubans, “asere”, which is a synonym of buddy, friend or brother in Cuba.
Prominent musicians immediately responded to the call from Havana D’Primera, including the legendary Orquesta Aragon, salsa musicians Isaac Delgado and Enrique Alvarez and Charanga Latina, and the Buena Fe duo, among others who will give life in this artistic fusion in honor of Cuba’s national sport.
“Musicians who want to get on, welcome. Ball is what it is. We have to push everywhere,” Abreu highlighted on a Facebook account, extending the invitation to all those colleagues who want to join this initiative.
